{Captain Marek Nim}Name: Marek Nim
Nickname(s): Captain, Little Nim, Scoundrel and too many less then savory nicknames to count.
Age: 22
Species: Human
Appearance: Having a healthy tan to his skin and being thin in build, Marek definitely fits the image of a scoundrel. He has brown eyes and dark red hair that is slicked back with a few stray strands covering parts of his forehead. On his face is a pair of faded diagonally running scars on his left cheek. He also has the remains of a burn scar across his shoulder and the front of his neck. His attire consists of a pair of dark blue long pants with a white long sleeved button up shirt with a black vest over the top. On his feet is a pair of black boots while his hands are covered by a brown fingerless gloves. Over the top of this he wears a long dark blue trench coat with a gold trim while on his head is a wide brimmed black hat.
In holsters on his left and right thighs are bolt Pistols, while a pair of chest holsters hold a pair of "Liberated" Archeotech laspistols. On the left side of his waist is where he keeps his chainsword, while sheathed on his right ankle is a small knife. Holstered at the back of his waist is a single Inferno pistol, his "Last Resort" weapon as it were and the only pistol he only has one of due to the difficulty of finding them.
In his time in this risky trade, he has lost the middle, ring and pinkie fingers on his left hand which have since been replaced with robotic prosthetics allowing him to use his hand as normal. He also has a robotic replacement for his right middle finger (It's a LONG story).
Backstory:
Born in the Xenophobic Imperium of man on a backwater Agri planet of the Segmentum Tempestus in the 41st Millenium, the young Mareks life earlier life was mostly uneventful. He was an orphan, growing up in the care of a friend of his parents to prepare him for his life as a farmer on the Agri-worlds. His world was important despite it's distance, responsible for providing and cultivating food for the rest of the worlds in the Imperium. At the age of six, he was put to work aiding the workers as a runner to give messages between workers. It was a simple job, but it was one that helped him get used to running from place to place and getting acquainted with other farmers. When he was nine, this was soon to change as a strange group of men and women showed up on his world to trade goods for food and what he later discovered was information on an old relic of a long lost civilization. Growing curious of the foreigners, he followed them back to their ship and stowed away on their vessel out of curiosity. Due to his small size he was able to hide amongst the cargo for the trip back to their main ship: The Star of Zealous.
Despite his stealth, he was eventually discovered once the crew had left the sector. Because of how short time was to get back into the expanse of unexplored space, namely to discover the artifact they sought, they had no time to turn their vessel around. While the captain of the vessel had enough humanity to not space the stow-away child, they weren't going to let him have a free trip either: He would have to earn his place on the Cruiser. It was during this time he also discovered that the vessel belonged to a crew of Rogue Traders: Explorers and traders that explore the unknown reaches of space for the Imperium of man, and given mostly free reign to do as they pleased compared to other organizations provided they don't actively oppose the Imperium or flaunt any unsavory or heretical activities.
Over the next decade he spent his time working his way up the ranks of the crew of the Rogue Trader vessel. He learned how to fight, how to pilot the ship as well as the transport craft and even picked up some skills in leadership. During this time he more then earned his place on the Star of Zealous, but there was one last trial he would have to undertake: Captaincy. During one conflict with pirates two years prior, the Captain and many of the higher ranks were killed leading to a power Vacuum.
Due to being the highest authority left on the ship, Marek stepped up to the plate as Captain. He turned the Star of Zealous into a more trade focused vessel, going from planet to planet, system to system for the sake of purchasing and selling goods. He would recoup their ships losses, and find the secrets the galaxy had yet to share. And, if he was lucky, maybe he could acquire some things the Imperium hadn't seen yet too! But, for now, the name of the game was one thing: Make money and stay alive.
Abilities/Powers: Posessing Quick reflexes, as well as being athletically gifted and a good runner, Marek is a man used to the harsh reality of the 41st Millenium. He is skilled with the use of firearms, but is particularly gifted with pistols and the two fisted (Dual wielding) fighting style. He can use rifles and other weapons, but he is more at home with pistols over larger weapons. He's also skilled in the use of melee weapons, particularly his trusty chainsword, which he uses to great effect when things go sour. Unfortunately, while he can fight well with melee weapons and swords (Particularly his chainsword) he can't fight well in hand to hand combat or unarmed, never really training himself in how to fight without a weapon.
The Star of Zealous however is the most powerful weapon in his arsenal. While incapable of landing on planets due to it's size, the firepower of the Imperial light Cruiser is usually enough to deal with most problems that can't be solved with conventional weapons or words.
Aside from his combat prowess, he is a good businessman and smooth talker without any real supernatural abilities except for one trait: He has an uncanny knack and ability to show up at the most unexpected of locations and places if there is a chance of him being able to wrangle a profit. There have been many times he's shown up to weary adventurers in need to trade goods: Weapons, armor, artifacts, even the odd vehicle and bit of food. Except for this one strange ability, Marek is as mortal as any man in the 41st millennium. He can be hurt, diseased and killed...he just won't make it easy.
Other: While he is a capable combatant, Marek doesn't like fighting or killing people and will actively avoid it to the best of his ability. This isn't out of a sense of morality but a sense of business: Corpses aren't repeat customers, after all. Besides, why fight when you can let the adventurers clear the way first so you can reap the remaining spoils for yourself?
Don't ask for Camels or any other beast of burden. He hasn't owned, nor will he ever own, any of such creatures and will never trade them.
Mareks goods aren't sold for just money. He enjoys currency, but he will accept trinkets or artifacts and other goods for his wares if he deems it an acceptable enough trade. He'll even accept favors. However, nothing he gives is ever free (Unless things have gone apocalyptic).
He utterly loves apple juice, mainly because it was a common beverage back on his home world that has become rather hard to come by in the galaxy.
